User Guide and Best Practice Guide

Changed:
<
<
At this site, the DS3.3.2 - User Guide and Best Practice Guide is being drafted. Recently there can be found two outlines: User guide outline and Best practice guide outline. The User Guide will be primarily aimed at non-specialist users and will give them a basic introduction to QoS in general and the GN2 service in particular. The Best Practice Guide will be aimed at campus-sized networking organizations and provide advice on how they can maximise the QoS performance of, andmonitor, their network devices. It both will be compiled from information in the PERT Knowledgebase system.

Reading list for CMs

List of relevant and useful PERT documents and URLs with short description

PERT

First of all PERT is Performance Enhancement and Response Team - The PERT is a virtual team which can assist in troubleshooting network performance issues.

Useful documents and knowledge resources:

PERT Knowledge Base

PERT Knowledge Base still grows. Right at the KB homepage there are mentioned possible areas of problematics: performance basics, network performance metrics, network protocols, PERT tools, end system tuning, network tuning, evil middlebox and performance people.

Useful enquiries are also sorted into another three searching system categories. First is a searching by topic. All topics are alphabetically ordered. Second category is more verbose, it includes also alphabetically ordered row od keywords and additionally some more information - for example beggining of description, name of contributor, date of last revison, etc. Last searching method is classical fulltext search. Entered keyword is searched in the whole Knowledge Base or at all TWiki webs.

Performance Trouble Ticket Procedures

At this site the DS.3.5.1 - Performance Trouble Ticket Procedures can be downloaded. These Performance trouble Ticket Procedures are divided into 2 main sections. The first section is Operational Guidelines. After a brief description of the different types of PERT users, the main part follows. It concerns advice on how to approach a PERT investigation. It precisely describes under what circumstances a PERT case should be opened, what information is required in order to start the analysis of the case, how to keep the investigation progressing, and how to properly close or cancel the case. The second section is a detailed user guide for the PERT Ticket System (PTS).

User Guide and Best Practice Guide

At this site, the DS3.3.2 - User Guide and Best Practice Guide is created.

PERT Diary

PERT Diary is a web-based collaboration area for documenting the day-to-day work of the GN2 Pilot PERT.

PERT Trouble Ticket System

PERT Trouble ticket system - note that authorized access is needed. Web-based system intended for opening, updating and closing trouble tickets.

Mail archives
